Oahu Residential_Non-Tax Exempt Address 2027 Lanihuli Drive, Honolulu, HI 96822 TMK (1) 2-8-019:013 SHPD Historic Site Number 80-14-9792 Abstract This residence, built in 1927, is a one-story Craftsman bungalow with a three bay rectangular plan, a gable roof, broad overhanging eaves with exposed rafters and knee braces and exterior walls that are covered in clapboard. The interior retains many decorative features of the original structure including tongue and groove hardwood floors and canec ceilings. The Gladding Residence is significant for its association with the development of Manoa Valley and is an example of a Craftsman style bungalow built in Hawaii during the 1920s. Oahu Residential_Non-Tax Exempt Address 2386 Oahu Avenue, Honolulu, HI 96822 TMK (1) 2-9-005:023 SHPD Historic Site Number 80-14-7383 Abstract The Albert and Alice Berg Residence, built in 1912, is a two-story structure with clapboard walls and a lateral running, hip-gable roof with open, overhanging eaves with exposed, carved rafter ends. The structure is three bays wide with an inset, centered, porte cochere. The bay to the left of the porte cochere has a two story, canted bay window. On the left side there is a single story, hip roofed, enclosed lanai. The structure is built on a post and pier foundation with a raised, lava rock perimeter. The Albert and Alice Berg Residence is significant as a good example of a Queen Anne revival style residence in Honolulu as well as for its associations with the development of Manoa valley, and more specifically the College Hills Tract. The structure has stucco on lathe walls and a hipped roof, with closed overhanging eaves with bracketing. The structure is three bays wide with a centered, single story portico. The structure also features a single story, outset lanai on the makai side. The Otto and Laura Bierbach Residence is significant as a good example of an early twentieth century residence built in the Queen Anne style with features adapted to Hawaii's climate. The residence is also significant for its associations with the development of Manoa valley, and more specifically the College Hills Tract. The interior features ohia wood floors, built-in bookcases, and canec ceilings and walls. The Edwin and Maude Benner residence is an example of a Colonial Revival style residence with vernacular "Hawaiian style" influences. It is also an example of the work of architect Mark Potter. The J. Lindsay and Margaret Grimshaw Residence is significant as an example of a 1920s bungalow with a pavilion plan and rounded gables.
