The house sits a the top of a hill, and it features a basically rectangular plan. The structure has an intersecting, hip, clay shingle roof with horizontal vents at the gables and a slight flare at the eaves with exposed rounded rafter ends. A wood balcony spans the main part of the house. The Guard Residence is architecturally significant for its unique blend of the modern movement as evident with its Modernistic or Art Deco detailing and the Spanish Colonial Revival style. The mildly moderne style residence has masonry walls and a composition shingle, hipped roof with closed overhanging eaves and square, screened vents. The house fronts on the makai (ocean) side of Kiele Avenue, and its centered, hip gablet roofed, garage wing is flanked on either side by a 6' high masonry wall which define small, intimate courtyards on either side of the garage. The Gobidrum Watumull House is architecturally significant as a good example of a late 1930s house in Hawaii deisgned in a modern style. It reflects the design ideas of the Honolulu architectural firm Dahl & Conrad and is typical of its period in its design, use of materials, workmanship and methods of construction.
