Abstract
Built in 1926, this single-story cottage has a pavilion plan with inset lanai and features: stuccoed walls, a hipped roof with overhanging eaves and exposed rafter tails, and Tuscan columns on the front corners of the lanai. The William and Edna Montgomery Residence is an example of a Lewers & Cooke cottage built in Hawaii during the 1920s. Alterations that converted the garage to a studio apartment reflect a historic association with the influx of wartime workers to Hawaii and the ensuing housing shortage during the 1940s.
