Address 111 Brown Way, Honolulu, HI 96822 TMK (1) 2-9-011:015 SHPD Historic Site Number 80-14-9839 Abstract The Perry Residence, built in 1924, is on a gently sloping site that allows for a sweeping view of Diamond Head and Waikiki. The house is built in a craftsman style and has a lava rock foundation and wooden shiplap siding. Perry Residence is significant as an intact example of the Craftsman style architecture in Hawaii. It is further significant for its association with the patterns of the residential development of the Manoa Valley and as a representative example of suburban residences in Hawaii in the late 19th and early 20th century. 2542 Malama Place/ Bredhoff Residence

Address 2542 Malama Place, Honolulu, HI 96822 TMK (1) 2-9-012:024 SHPD Historic Site Number 80-14-9839 Abstract The Bredhoff Residence is a two-story single family house with a unique, steeply pitched hipped roof with overhanging eaves and features a cutout porch with French doors. Built in 1928, the Bredhoff Residence is significant as a product of early twentieth century urban planning and expansion and residential development in the Honolulu community of Manoa. The house is also significant as an unique example of a Tudor/Shingle style residence built in Honolulu in the early 20th century. 2437 Parker Place/ Frederick G. Krauss Residence

Address 2437 Parker Place, Honolulu, HI 96822 TMK (1) 2-9-012:029, :070 SHPD Historic Site Number 80-14-1387 Abstract The Frederick G. Krauss Residence was built in the 1912 in lower Manoa Valley. This one and one-half story bungalow has a hipped roof, overhanging eaves with exposed rafters, stucco on lath exterior, a central bay window, and an inset porch with engaged columns. The interior features built-in furniture, battered posts, and ornamental moulding. The Frederick G. Krauss Residence is significant as it is a rare variation and an early example of the use of the bungalow building form in Hawaii.  It is also significant for its association with Frederick G. 2714 Aolani Place/ Kreye Residence

Address 2714 Aolani Place, Honolulu, HI 96822 TMK (1) 2-9-014:004 SHPD Historic Site Number 80-14-9840 Abstract Built around 1917, the Kreye Residence is a two-story structure and is basically square in plan; the enclosed front porch and dining room extend on one side of the structure. The gable roof is steeply double-pitched, with a large dormer and deep overhangs, and with smaller eaves shading windows on the mauka and Diamond-Head sides. The structure is double-wall construction, with clapboard-siding, with the exception of the windward side, which has wooden shingling. On the interior, the dining room and library (front porch) maintain the original beamed ceilings. The Kreye Residence is significant as an example of wood-frame house construction influenced by the Craftsman style, and was designed and built by master carpenter and builder, Heinrich Knaack. The structure is also significant for its associations in the development of the Manoa Valley which is significant in the social and architectural development of Hawaii. 2544 Alaula Way/ Shields Moore House

Address 2544 Alaula Way, Honolulu, HI 96822 TMK (1) 2-9-014:031 SHPD Historic Site Number 80-14-9783 Abstract Built in 1915, the Shields Moore House is a large 1-1/2 story asymmetrical house with a multiple-hipped roof and a centered dormer with a gable roof. The structure is built on a lava rock foundation, and battered piers of lava rock support the roof above the large lanai. The exterior walls are clad in wood shingles with a diamond trim at the bottom edge which is continuous around the house.  Above the windows, wooden moulding forms the top of the window casing and forms a large band to the roof. The Shields Moore House is significant as an example of Craftsman architecture in Hawaii. In addition, the property is reflective of the patterns of Hawaii residential development in Oahu's College Hill Tract between 1910 and 1920. 2627 East Manoa Road/ Earl R. and Lillian McGhee Residence

Address 2627 East Manoa Road, Honolulu HI 96822 TMK (1) 2-9-014:037 SHPD Historic Site Number 80-14-9015 Abstract The Earl R. and Lillian McGhee Residence, built in 1929, is significant as a modestly detailed Fantasy Picturesque style house constructed in Hawaii during the period of the late 1920s to early 1930s. It is one of approximately a dozen such styled houses to remain in Honolulu.  Related to the Tudor Revival style, it uses Elizabethan forms in a rather whimsical manner evocative of a fairytale, including a steep, skewed gable, wavy edged asbestos-cement shingles on the facade, and the prominent round arched entry treatment.  The house is also significant for its associations with Earl and Lillian McGhee, whose marriage was an early and rare instance of Caucasian-Asian intermarriage during the 1920s.  The McGhee's marriage is associated with the broad pattern of multi-ethnic harmony in Hawaii's history. 2625 Doris Place/ Johnny Noble House

Address 2625 Doris Place, Honolulu, HI 96822 TMK (1) 2-9-014:043 SHPD Historic Site Number 80-14-9800 Abstract Built in 1918, this one-story bungalow features a broken hipped roof, overhanging eaves with exposed rafter tails, and double square pilasters on the front porch. The interior retains many original Craftsman style design elements including bookcases, octagonal wood columns, cupboards, closets, and a large bay window seat. The Johnny Noble House is significant for its association with John Avery (Johnny) Noble, the nationally recognized Hawaii composer and musician, and also as a well preserved example of the Craftsman style bungalow. 2746 Kahawai Street/ John Franklin Stone and Julia Stone Residence

Address 2746 Kahawai Street, Honolulu HI 96822 TMK (1) 2-9-014:063 SHPD Historic Site Number 80-14-9096 Abstract The John and Julia Stone Residence is located in a quiet neighborhood, a few blocks away from Oahu Avenue; which is one of the main thoroughfares in Manoa Valley.  This single-story dwelling is situated on a small wedge lot, with a large mango tree at the front of the property, and has a curving, scored concrete walkway that carves a path from the street through the front lawn up to the entrance of the home.  The house is rendered in a Modest Bungalow style characterized by a hip roof over the main body of the house and a hip roof reaching from the bedroom wing that extends out from the main body.  A flat roofed, 22' foot long, front porch extends across the other two-thirds of the facade forming a continous line with the bedroom wing.  The exterior of the residence has white hardboard siding, intersecting hipped soofs with exposed eaves and rafters, and sits on a post pier, lava rock foundation that has a vertical slat apron This list of Hawaii’s historic properties is provided as a public service by Historic Hawaii Foundation. 2726 Hillside Avenue/ Dr. Archibald Neil Sinclair Residence

Address 2726 Hillside Avenue, Honolulu HI 96822 TMK (1) 2-9-015:023 SHPD Historic Site Number 80-14-1358 National Register of Historic Places #83003557 Abstract The Dr. Archibald Sinclair Residence sits on a hill, Puu Pueo, in Manoa Valley, near the rear of a 13,405 square foot lot with a large, sloping lawn in front and commanding views. Designed for Dr. Sinclair by architects Emory & Webb in 1917, the two-story Colonial Revival style home is significant for its architecture and association with Dr. Sinclair, who was a prominent physician in Hawaii at the beginning of the 20th century. Emory & Webb was one of the leading architectural firms in the early Territorial period. Buildings on the property include a main house, a detached, separate maid's quarters/garage, and a detached, underground bombshelter. The main two-story house is built on a foundation of lava rock and redwood piles and features wood-frame construction with horizontal lap siding. Most of the windows are 8-over-1, double-hung sash. 2703 Terrace Drive/ Gosling/Day Residence (Ferraro Residence)

Address 2703 Terrace Drive, Honolulu HI 96822 TMK (1) 2-9-015:039 SHPD Historic Site Number 80-14-9793 Abstract The Gosling/Day Residence was built in 1924 on a steeply sloping property on a narrow side street in Manoa Valley. It is significant for its architecture and for its association with the residential development of Honolulu as as part of the Pu`upueo Tract of Manoa. The house was designed in a symmetric, Neo-Classical style with Craftsman detailing. It is one-story on the street side and two-story in the rear, creating the illusion of a small cottage. The wood-frame house has a nearly pyramidal hip roof, open eaves with scalloped rafter tails, clapboard siding, and lava rock foundation. A projecting entry porch is defined by Doric columns and a pediment with a circle motif that is centered and flanked by paired 6-over-1 double-hung windows. It has a detached carport. It sits on land that originally included the old Cooper house that became Jackson College in 1952. The present owners successfully removed vinyl siding that had been previously installed over the original clapboard.
