Invest In Historic Preservation Through the HHF Annual Fund

Because of You Thanks to you, Historic Hawai‘i Foundation celebrates its 40th anniversary of historic preservation this year.  We honor HHF’s founding members, who had the foresight to establish HHF in 1974, and the generations of members and supporters who have continued the effort over the past four decades.  Together with your support, Historic Hawai‘i Foundation continues its mission of protecting historic buildings, landmarks and cultural heritage of the Islands. Community Impact Your contributions have helped HHF to double its efforts to advocate for historic preservation through the legislation process and field work. HHF’s executive director and staff are part of several consultation teams for development and preservation projects. Thanks to your support, we have been able to promote community awareness through these achievements in 2014: HHF partnered with the Freeman Foundation to secure preservation grants for the Lahaina Courthouse, the East Hawai‘i Cultural Center, Mokuaikaua Church, Pacific Aviation Museum Tower, Church of the Crossroads, and ‘Ewa Community Church. In collaboration with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Waikīkī Natatorium was designated as a National Treasure in July 2014. Partnering with the State Historic Preservation Division to increase awareness statewide, HHF held preservation workshops on Moloka‘i, Lāna‘i, Maui and Kaua‘i. The workshops were well-attended by members of each community and helped increase understanding of historic preservation review processes. HHF organized unique historic home and building tours to encourage the appreciation of history and architecture. These tours enabled members and guests to experience the interiors of private residences and commercial buildings and learn about their history. Please take a look at the map illustrating HHF’s work during 2014.  It provides a more visual perspective of the impact HHF supporters [...]
