Join HHF in celebrating the 2021 Preservation Award Honorees

Historic Hawai‘i Foundation is pleased to announce the 2021 recipients of the Preservation Honor Awards.  This year’s honorees reflect an array of outstanding achievements in preservation across the state, with several focused on the protection of cultural sites and heritage.  From individual’s lifelong efforts, to ambitious media offerings, and robust plans that embrace community stewardship and collaboration, these accomplishments reflect the heart and soul of preservation in Hawai‘i.

The Preservation Awards also honors the major anniversaries of local organizations, companies and historic places, commemorating their success in serving as vital contributors to our communities.

We invite you to join us in celebrating these achievements at the 47th Annual Preservation Honor Awards Ceremony, which will be held as a livestream presentation on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 5:00 p.m.

This year’s event will also feature a special recognition: Hawai‘i Architectural Foundation will present Kiersten Faulkner, executive director of Historic Hawai‘i Foundation, with the Paepae I Ka Pōhaku Award for her contributions to preserving Hawai‘i’s historic architecture (further information provided below).

Attendance is free of charge and open to the public. Please register using the button at right and you will receive the link to the livestream.

The Preservation Awards Program is made possible with support from the community.  Sponsorship, advertisement and donation opportunities are detailed in the pdf brochure and links on the right.

“The Awards Committee was impressed by the high caliber of the nominations we received this year, especially given the strains under which so many have worked during the pandemic.”

About the Preservation Honor Awards

Since 1975, the Historic Hawai‘i Foundation has selected historic preservation honor award winners throughout the State of Hawai‘i.

The honorees are selected by a committee comprised of professionals in architecture, history, planning, landscape architecture, architectural history and media. Each nomination is considered on its own merits and not in competition with others.

Presented annually since 1975, the Preservation Honor Awards program offers the local community an opportunity to share, recognize and applaud excellence in historic preservation in the Hawaiian Islands. The event brings together professionals and academia in the preservation field and community volunteers who believe in the power of preserving historic places for the common good.
