Abstract
The Brown Residence, which was built in 1926, is located on a downward sloping lot and has a rock, and wood post and pier foundation, wood shiplap siding, and a gently sloping asphalt-shingled (originally wood singles), multi-hip roof with exposed eaves. The main features of this single-story structure include the entry patio, the back lanai, and its H-shaped floor plan. The Brown Residence is significant as it was once a part of a larger property (Lot 12, Block 13) that was associated with the College Hills Tract. This area was a key feature in the residential community development in Manoa Valley. In addition, it is significant for its distinctive architectural characteristics and represents the work of master architects Emory and Webb.
