Address 129-2301 Old Mamalahoa Highway, Hakalau, HI 96710 TMK (3) 2-9-002:039 SHPD Historic Site Number 10-16-9070 Abstract The Hakalau Plantation Manager's House is an asymmetrical, two-story, wood-frame structure sited on a knoll that presides over the town of Hakalau and the site of the former sugar mill. The house has a corrugated metal hipped roof and an outset porch that wraps around the left side of the house. The house also has a centered porte cochere and a single-story lanai. The Hakalau Plantation Manager's House is architecturally significant at the state level as an example of a late nineteenth-century plantation manager's house; it is typical of its period in design, craftsmanship, materials, and methods of construction. It is also significant for its associations with the history of Hakalau Sugar Plantation, and John Munro Ross, who managed the Plantation from 1905 to 1946. 184 Puueo Street/ Patton House

Address 184 Puueo Street, Hilo, Hawaii 96720 TMK (3) 2-6-005:004 SHPD Historic Site Number N/A Abstract The Patton House is prominently located on its almost four-acre site. The most prominent characteristic of the exterior is the large, deep porch with circular ends. The flat roof over the porch is supported by paired Tuscan columns. The significance of the Patton House is based both on its architecture and its association with Harold V. Patton. Patton is best known as being one of the main movers and shakers of economic life during the early twentieth century in Hilo. Architecturally, this house is an excellent example of an affluent Hilo residence built during this time period. 1411 Wailuku Drive/ Dr. Masao Kubo Residence

Address 1411 Wailuku Drive, Hilo, Hawaii 96720 TMK (3) 2-3-028:044 SHPD Historic Site Number 10-35-7502 Abstract The Kubo Residence is a two-story Foursquare with a single-story wing on one side. The house is rectangular in shape and both the main body and wing have hipped roofs. The dwelling does not derive from any historical style and appears to be inspired from local conditions. The Kubo Residence is architecturally significant as a house designed by C. W. Dickey in the 1930s in Hawaii. The house is also significant for its association with the social history of Hawaii with regards to the interracial marriage between Dr. Kubo and his wife Florence which at the time was uncommon. 1432 Wailuku Drive/ Herman N. Ludloff Residence

Address 1432 Wailuku Drive, Hilo, Hawaii 96720 TMK (3) 2-3-028:022 SHPD Historic Site Number 10-35-7500 Nomination Form (PDF) Abstract The Ludloff Residence is a one-and-a-half-story house with a composition-shingled, double-pitched hip roof with overhanging eaves and exposed, carved rafters. The facade is dominated by the lava-rock lanai and porte cochere at the right corner. The Ludloff Residence is significant for its architecture as a good example of an early 1930s residence designed by Hart Wood. It is the only example of Hart Wood's residential design known to exist in Hilo and it is one of the better examples of his later residential work. It is three bays wide with a centered, gable-roofed, partially enclosed entry porch. The interior has board and batten walls and ceilings with wood floors throughout. The Hashimoto House is significant, as a well preserved and maintained, early-twentieth-century plantation worker's house built in Hawaii. Hind Residence is a two-story, shiplap-sided house with a corrugated metal gable roof. It has a front porch which wraps around the right side of the house and also has a centered gabled dormer. The house is rectangular in plan with a kitchen wing off the rear. The house sits on a lot, which in the rear overlooks a large gorge and the foothills of the Kohala Mountains. The James M. Hind Residence is architecturally significant as a rare example of a turn-of-the-century prefabricated house built in Hawaii, as well as for its associations with the Hind family and the development of the sugar industry in North Kohala. Keawaiki Bay/ Francis H. Ii Brown Beach Residence

Address Keawaiki Bay, North Kona District, Hawaii 96740 TMK (3) 7-1-003:003, 012, 013 SHPD Historic Site Number 10-19-7498 National Register of Historic Places #86001616 Abstract This site is a 15-acre beach front parcel "oasis of greenery" that is surrounded by barren lava.  The property consists of a large fishpond and a smaller natural pool; also on the property are four main structures, and ten smaller buildings. Each of the structures have walls constructed of lava rock and low-pitch hip roofs. The Francis H. Ii Brown Beach Residence is significant as an example of a Kona coast beach cottage complex of the 1920s, its potential to yield information about Hawaii's past, and its associations with Francis H. The structure sits on a post and pier lava-rock foundation and is covered by vinyl siding that emulated clapboard.  The interior of the living room, two of the bedrooms, and hallway retain the original beaded tongue and groove walls and ceiling. The McGuinness Residence is significant at the local level for its associations with the development of Halaulani Place as well as the development of Hilo. The single-story, single-wall bungalow has a corrugated metal hip roof with overhanging closed eaves, and an outset, intersecting gable-roofed porch that dominates the left side of the facade.  The structure has vertical tongue and groove walls and double-hung sash window with a single-pane bottom sash, and an upper sash with six panes. The Parker Residence is significant for its associations with the development of Halaulani Place as well as the development of Hilo. Address 105 Halaulani Place, Hilo, Hawaii 96720 TMK (3) 2-6-006:017, 025 SHPD Historic Site Number 10-35-9069 National Register of Historic Places #11000056 Abstract The Moses Residence is a single-story bungalow distinguished by an outset porch that wraps around its southeast corner and dominates the two principal elevations of the house. The porch has a slightly pitched flat roof with overhanging eaves with exposed rafter tails that are decoratively carved. The Moses Residence is significant at the local level for its associations with the development of Halaulani Place as well as the development of Hilo. The house was one of the first five houses constructed in the subdivision. The home is also significant for its architecture as a good example of a bungalow constructed in Hawaii in the 1920s.
