Abstract
Approved for Criterion A (Historical Events and Patterns) and Criterion C (Architecture and Engineering). The Matsujiro Fujino Property is significant for serving as an incubator for the entrepreneurial dreams of Japanese immigrants to find employment off the plantations and establish their own enterprises. It is also significant as a good example of a wood commercial building constructed in Hawaii in the 1920s era. The period of significance ranges from the construction of the building in 1925, to the store closing in 1957.
