Abstract
Approved for Criterion A (Historic Events and Patterns) and Criterion C (Architecture and Engineering). The Owens residence has contributed to the broad patterns of development in the history of Hawaii during a time of tremendous growth of the outlying neighborhoods of Honolulu in the late 1920s as it is associated with the Burbank Tract Development and is one of the original homes on the Burbank Tract. The home is also significant under Criterion C at the local level as an intact example of the craftsman style home and an example of a private dwelling designed by master architect Herbert Cohen.
