Abstract
The Hopper residence is architecturally significant as a good example of an early bungalow in Hawaii, and for its associations with the development of Wahiawa. The 1907 construction date makes this bungalow one of the earliest known residences to be constructed in this style in Hawaii. The bungalow style with its rustic associations was an ideal choice of styles for this dwelling, which served the Hopper family as a rural retreat from Honolulu.
