Address 4540 Ola Road, Waimea, Kauai 96796 TMK (4) 1-6-007: 042 SHPD Historic Site Number 30-05-9316 Abstract The Waimea Educational Center is a board-and-batten, single-story structure with a gable roof and skylights. The building functions as a community center and gymnasium, has a raised stage platform on one end, and features a 120-foot longitudinal ridge beam with a series of scissor trusses and purlins. The buildings were designed during the 1930s by Hart Wood, one of the foremost architects in the Territory of Hawaii. Address 4491 Halepule Road, Waimea, Kauai 96796 TMK (4) 1-6-007: 028 SHPD Historic Site Number 30-05-9317 Abstract The original portion of the Waimea Hawaiian Church is a single-story wood frame structure built in the Hawaiian tradition, and it has a gable roof with a steeple on the makai end of the building. In 1908, the west wing was added, and at an unknown time a covered porch was added to the east side of the structure. These additions, which both have gable roofs, make the structure cross-like in form. The interior consists of wood walls, ceiling, and floors. The creation of the Waimea Hawaiian Church was the result of a bitter dispute between the Hawaii Evangelical Association and Reverend George Rowell. This dispute resulted in the formation of the Waimea Hawaiian Church, which is an example of the socio-religious climate of the time. Address 4400 Maka Road, Kalaheo, Kauai 96741 TMK (4) 2-3-002:005 SHPD Historic Site Number 30-10-9391 Abstract Kalaheo School is a complex of seven one-story buildings on a 7.473-acre site on the eastern edge of Kalaheo town. Five of the buildings date from 1921-1940, while two are more recent structures. All five buildings display the distinctive architectural materials and single-wall construction technique of the Kauai Public Schools of that period. Address 4109 Kealia Road, Anahola, Kauai 96703 TMK (4) 4-8-005:001 SHPD Historic Site Number 30-04-9391 Abstract Anahola School is a complex of three buildings: the classroom building, former cafeteria building, and the toilet building.  The classroom and main part of the cafeteria are single-wall wood-frame construction, and the toilet building is a combination of concrete and wood-frame construction.  The design and materials of the buildings are essentially intact, although some additions have been made to the rear of the two main buildings, and some of the original materials are covered over or deteriorated. The Anahola School Buildings are significant because of their relation to developments in public education in the Territory of Hawaii, the architecture of Kauai's public schools, and the specific history of the settlement of the Anahola area. These four single-story, wooden buildings retain integrity of location, design, materials, workmanship, feeling, and association. These buildings relate to developments in public education in the Territory of Hawaii, the architecture of Kauai's Public Schools, and the specific history of the settlement of the Kapaa area. Address 3-2087 Kaumualii Highway, Lihue, Kauai 96766 TMK (4) 3-4-005:001 SHPD Historic Site Number 30-11-9339 Abstract Kilohana, also known as Wilcox Homestead, contains two historic structures: a small two-room cottage of single wall construction that features the generous use of moldings, trim, and other decorative elements; and an imposing two story, 30,000-square foot residential building designed in the "English country house style" with interior Pacific and American Art Deco design detailing. Both buildings represent architectural elements of a grand working homestead that was associated with the economic and social fabric of the island of Kauai. The larger building reflects the work of master architect Mark Potter, while the cottage reflects the earlier construction, design, and decorative techniques used at the homestead near the turn of the twentieth century.
