The Schofield Barracks Stockade building is located near the southeast corner of the base. The building was originally set off by itself, separated from the housing and administrative areas of the base by open space, stables, and warehouses. The stockade is now surrounded by buildings of varied functions. Constructed in 1918, the building is a one-story structure in an L-shaped plan. The stockade building is a significant element of Schofield Barracks as one of the early permanent structures at the post and for the essential role it has played. Although the building has undergone some renovations, most of these have been on the interior of the building, and the structure retains its historic exterior appearance.
