The Smith Apartment Building is a modest example of the moderne style applied to an apartment building. Its smooth masonry walls, flat roof, and rounded elements well bespeak the style, as does its incised banding running around the top of the building’s second story. In addition to its style, the building is significant as a good example of a typical apartment building constructed in Waikīkī during the 1930s.
