Abstract
The Withington House is located on a sloping two-acre property on the East side of the Tantalus Ridge overlooking Manoa Valley, with views of the Pacific Ocean and Diamond Head. The house style is best defined as a Tudor Revival-Influenced, Hawaiian Regional Style lava rock bungalow. It features exterior walls that are contiguous from earth to roof made of lava rock with stucco and plaster construction. The rest of the structure has a wood floor framing system with internal wood post and pier foundation and wood framing system. The house is linear, asymmetrical and somewhat organic in plan; it was designed this way to take advantage of trade winds and views.
