Abstract
The Pratt House is situated in the center of an upward sloping lot on Pacific Heights Road and is one of the earliest houses built in the area. Located on the site are the main house, a guest cottage and a carport. The 3300 square foot main house is of Late Victorian Queen Anne style of architecture, it is two stories and sits on a stone foundation. Queen Anne architecture is characterized by asymmetry, various roof lines, often with corner turrets, and freedom of interior planning, usually with a front living hall. The house is monochromatic whits, as is typical of Hawaii’s domestic architecture of the period, and the characteristic Queen Anne veranda is maximized here to provide outdoor living space.
