The residence at 2022 University Avenue is a single story “Hawaiian” style house characterized by a prominent, wood shingle, double-pitched hipped roof with open eaves and exposed rafters. Its asymmetrical facade has exterior clad with painted wood shingles, and is three bays wide. The residence is one of a number of residences designed and constructed by Lewers & Cooke during the period 1926-1936. The cottage sits above University Avenue, separated from the street by a lava rock retaining wall, constructed as part of a 1965 road widening project. The exterior remains almost unchanged; however, the interior has been altered due to its use for many years as a rental for university students.
