Makapuu Point Light Station is a land fall light for vessels bound from the United States and was established in 1909. The light tower itself is on concrete, surmounted by an iron lantern with glass storm panes which protect the lens and illuminating apparatus. Makapuu Point Lighthouse is significant as one of the most important Aids to Navigation in the Hawaiian islands.
